Meditations by Will Schlueter

Will Schlueter here- Ingrid’s son. I’m 17 and a high school senior. I recorded this beautiful piece of organ music and thought I could share it here on her blog. Called “Meditations”, it a communion piece built around two ancient chant melodies- the texts of which are still sung today. The two themes are introduced separately and then brought together toward the end, symbolic of the harmony found in Christ. The texts, translated from Latin are-

Ubi Caritas-
Where charity and love are, God is there.
Christ’s love has gathered us into one.
Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him.
Let us fear, and let us love the living God.
And may we love each other with a sincere heart.

Where charity and love are, God is there.
As we are gathered into one body,
Beware, lest we be divided in mind.
Let evil impulses stop, let controversy cease,
And may Christ our God be in our midst.

Where charity and love are, God is there.
And may we with the saints also,
See Thy face in glory, O Christ our God:
The joy that is immense and good,
Unto the ages through infinite ages. Amen.

Jesu Dulcis Memoria-
Jesus, the very thought of Thee
With sweetness fills the breast!
Yet sweeter far Thy face to see
And in Thy Presence rest.

No voice can sing, no heart can frame,
Nor can the memory find,
A sweeter sound than Jesus’ Name,
The Saviour of mankind.

O hope of every contrite heart!
O joy of all the meek!
To those who fall, how kind Thou art!
How good to those who seek!

But what to those who find? Ah! this
Nor tongue nor pen can show
The love of Jesus, what it is,
None but His loved ones know.

Jesus! our only hope be Thou,
As Thou our prize shalt be;
In Thee be all our glory now,
And through eternity. Amen.

Enjoy!

A very sensitive rendering of the Langlais, a piece I have enjoyed playing in the past. Thanks for sharing and I hope you share more. I saw the pipe organ tag on WordPress. I notice you have other videos on here. You are very accomplished for your age. All the best of luck in the future!
