One Speck in the Vastness of Eternity

This photo from NASA really affected me today. There we are in all that inky blackness, one tiny, lush little planet where God created something called mankind. These ancient words from Job:26:7 read:

“He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.”

How did Job know that, eons before NASA photos existed? God spoke through those who wrote the Holy Scriptures to tell us what NASA only recently has confirmed. What a Creator we have that He would make man, and then, make a way of saving us from our sins through His dear Son. Praise the Lord! What an awesome God we serve.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. ~ Psalm 19:1

Thank you, NASA, for underscoring the greatness of the Master Designer with your photographs.

Truly a stunning picture. I love that verse in Job: kind of hard to argue with and yet…

    Thank you for finding this!

Oh Ingrid, how bold and true are your words today!!!

    May I humbly add:
    They said:
“Taken by Nasa’s Messenger deep space probe the incredible image illustrates how insignificant we really are.”

    But God’s word says:
    Psalms 8:1, 3-4, 9
1 O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens !
3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained ; 4 What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him?
9 O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth !

Thanks for sharing the picture! Our God is so awesome and He always has a way of reminding us of the right perspective on things; how big He is and how small we are and yet He is mindful of all of His creation all of the time! Amazing!

Great photograph – so stark and stunning! Every year I give my older son a Hubble outer space wall calendar – we are in awe of those images!

And how deep is His love for us! What a humbling thought. That God would think to save or love an evil speck like me. – Jess

And it was precisely evidence such as this — Hubble photos and passages like this one from the book of Job — that brought me firmly and forever into the kingdom of God. It convinced me that the God of the Bible is the real deal because there’s NO WAY its author could have known these things apart from Someone outside of time and space. And I’ve talked with many others who skipped down the same path away from any doubt in Him. Thanks for this post, Ingrid!!!
