The “Glories” of Communist China
October 5, 2007 by Ingrid Schlueter
This came to me this morning from China Aid Association. We in the West have built a monster. Americans shopping at stores like Wal-Mart buy nearly everything from China. This is a country that allows police to beat a woman so badly that she has to have a hysterectomy. She has been imprisoned with her hands chained to her bed. Her crime? Following Jesus. Prepare for an Olympic- sized propaganda campaign from these monsters as they prepare to boast to the world of their glorious People’s Republic. They are a nation whose leaders are at war with God. I would suggest that they read Psalm 2 and learn the ultimate fate of all of those who presume to take the place of God. Like all communist leaders who are now in hell, those who persecute the righteous will suffer God’s judgment. Pray for these Christians who are denied the most basic human rights by the Chinese government. Help spread the word about the reality of life in China for those who seek religious freedom.
MIDLAND, Texas, Oct. 5 /Christian Newswire/ – CAA learned that after the 9 House Church leaders were missing for almost two months, only recently their relatives were formally informed by the authority that the 9 pastors had been sentenced to re-education through labor from 12 months to 18 months since August 6 of this year. Among them, 42- year-old Ms. Li Mei has been serving her one-year sentence in a hospital of her county with both hands chained with her bed. She has to have a hysterectomy surgery because of the repeated beatings and torture she received during her detention time from July 15 to August 15. Another female church leader 33-year-old Ms. Qin Daomin is temporarily serving her sentence at home because she had a 2-year-old child to care for.
According to the sentence paper issued on August 6, 2007 by the Administrative Committee for Re- education through Labor of Enshizhou City of Hubei province, the 9 leaders were detained on July 15 when they were found having Sunday worship service together at the home of Ms. Qin Daomin. They were accused of the crime of “engaging in organizing and making use of an evil cult organization to undermine the enforcement of State laws”. The official reeducation through labor decision paper listed the following things as evidence of their crimes including singing Christian hymns to the villagers and showing the Jesus film in a nursing home and praying for the disabled elderly men for healing from God.

This is tragic! The church in America is wasting away talking about God’s “purpose” for our lives, growing our churches at any cost, being environmentally friendly, and joining with unbelievers to find a cure for AIDS–all the while, dear brothers and sisters are being PERSECUTED in China (and other places around the globe).
I’m ashamed that I don’t pray more for these TRUE believers. May God give me a heart that loves the brethren being persecuted in these God-hating countries, and to stop funding these countries with my petty purchases from Wal Mart.
God protect those that are yours. Use their suffering to show Your Glory. Amen.
Mike D.
Horrifying. I’m almost speechless.
What’s also horrifying is as a native of Taiwan, how the Communists have acted arrogantly to show the country is “theirs” and have cut that nation off to the world by saying they do not exist, and by edict of the UN virtually, they cannot recognise Taipei.
To not recognise a free country and then bound Christians has made it impossible for me to ever visit the land of our family because the Communists would send me to a reeducation camp and or put me in so much horror because of my faith, something our family members do not have.
The State as Deity is a totalitarian tradition that is sickening.
Sorry to have to write this, as it has nothing to do with the persecution in China.
It concerns the name of one of the commenters, namely when…
Is that name a misprint or what? Just seems wrong to use it.
The names Mike D and Rose are fine, but the other is not.
Sorry to have to point that out, but it just isn’t right.
God bless.
The failure of these nations to not only recognise but to also persecute Christians is to their own disadvantage and only serves to add to their weakness. The fact that the USA was built on a Christian foundation is witness to our success. The persuit of ungodly pleasures and our turning from God will be to our destruction just as the persuit of pleasure and entertainment served to destroy the Roman empire. The China govt would do well to read Romans 13 and 1 Peter 2:13 to understand how Christians are to submit to authorities and the govt. Religous freedom would only unify them as a nation - why do the governments of the world NOT understand this?

Well, let’s take some effective actions. We can, you know.
1. When you buy anything, from anywhere, turn it over, and read the label. If it says “China” on it, return it to the shelf.
2.Use the phone and Internet. If you can’t buy American-made goods in your local stores, you can probably find a supplier online. Don’t assume that if local stores aren’t carrying it, it is not available.
3. Call up manufacturers on their Toll-Free numbers, and ask if their product uses material from China. I’ve been doing this, and it’s obvious from the responses that other people have been doing this, too. Let them know by doing this, that you don’t want their product if it is made from China’s food exports (or any of their exports).
4. When purchasing from local stores, ask them where the product comes from. Request that they look it (product origen) up, and when ordering, order items not made in China.
5. Make your purchases from thrift shops, resale shops, etc. The older, still useful goods were often made in the USA. These shops often provide jobs for Americans that have disabilities, and are a good way to stretch your budget, too.
6.This last one is a bit touchey, I know. Don’t make an idol out of the Olympics this year. Lots of the profits will be going to (or staying in) China this year.
Kathy,
Thanks for the suggestions. I hadn’t even thought about the Olympics being in China this year.
